As the years go by and the surveillance state grows the secutiry risks of what should be everyday actions increase to the point where they can no longer be ignored. As we ask you to print for us, it is important we inform you on those risks. We also have a guide on how to print while mitigating risk, and how you may conceptualize security generally.

Modern printers generally track a few pieces of info on what you print. Among these are the file name of what was printed, the timestamp, the IP address and some but not all keep a full copy of what was printed on the disc.

Many modern printers also use what are called Printer Tracking dots. These track pretty much of the same data but its encoded into the printed paper itself. The classic way this is done is with yellow dots invisible to the naked eye, but in the most recent printers there are belived to be several way information is forensically coded. We simply do not know the precise details about how these.

That is a reasonable summary of the security risks for physical printing. We are of course not security experts, and we know this summary is quite short, so if you want somthing more in depth please do do your own research. We hope this will be able to give you a proper understanding of the risks before taking part in our project.
