A lot of the paraphillic community has an obsession with security. And this is good, we are oppressed to a degree that borders on comical. A paranoid culture is necessary for us to have any sense of safety. That being said, a fixation on saftey to the disregard of everything else stifles action. One has to have a realistic understanding of security and the capacity of our enemies. Overestimating can be just as dangerous as underestimating.

Remember, the goal of the panopticon is not to watch everything all the time, it is to instill the fear that one could be being watched at any time. To believe the enemy is all knowing is to succumb to their PsyOp.

As this regards engading with our project. Keep in mind that most of the printing security measures are extremely paranoid. Even if you take none of the precautions, the information that could be forensically gathered is only: The time printed, the file name, the model printer and the IP address. They can’t derive your full name and house address from a thing you printed.

Further consider that actually forensically tracking this stuff is resource intensive. It costs money and time. In most situations, not just this one but any situation regarding government surveillance, if they had infinite resources, they could find you. The fact they don’t is not for a lack of ability, but for a lack of will. If they try a little bit and donโ€™t get very far, or realize that getting farther would be expensive, they are liable to give up. There is a reason the only cases that we have found where printer info used to track someone is high level national security threats. This speaks to a method that is likley resource intensive and is only used in important circumstances.

Further further consider that none of this is illegal (at least in the United States! Check your local laws). Our advocacy is first amendment protected speech, the likelihood they would go through all the effort to find a single distributor is low. You, the individual person who in one location put out flyers, are in all likleyhood not important enough to go through the effort of tracking down. And even if they do, there probably isnt a crime to pin on you.

We also have a summary of what exactly the risks of printing are and a guide on how to mitigate them and print anyway. We recommend you read both of those. (And that you print for us!)

Stay safe, but do not let fear paralyze you. The only way we win is if we try.
